While health care is changing faster than at any time in history, what hasn't changed, what will never change, is the need for skilled, compassionate caregivers who understand both the art and science of health care.
Health care is an industry reinventing itself. Advances in technology, an aging population, and medical research and clinical breakthroughs once unimaginable are reshaping the way care is delivered. The demand for responsive, responsible health care continues to grow, leading to a shift toward interdisciplinary, collaborative teams that deliver better patient outcomes.
Yet, even as the field evolves faster than ever before, one thing will never change, the need for skilled, compassionate caregivers who understand both the art and science of health care.
That’s why ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø created the College of Health Sciences, to meet this growing need with exceptional people called to serve others through health care.
A Foundation Built on Excellence and Calling
The College of Health Sciences is where calling, education, and service meet. It is home to four exceptional schools and two world-class centers:
- Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing
- McWhorter School of Pharmacy
- School of Health Professions
- School of Public Health
- Office of Faith and Health
- Experiential Learning and Simulation Center
Together, these schools and programs prepare more than 2,500 students across 30+ academic programs to make an impact in their communities and around the world. Across all four schools and in every program, we focus on four aspects of the college experience to better prepare our graduates for the world awaiting them following graduation. As a result, employment rates for ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøgraduates continue to remain strong, which means the health-related career paths our students are choosing yield high returns on their investment by default. The College of Health Sciences at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø is where calling, education, and service meet.
Rigorous Academics
Together, our students and faculty pursue an academic programs that challenge at every level. The results are clear. Our graduates are more than prepared, as they are consistently accepted into their preferred graduate programs and pass the licensure exams at rates far exceeding national averages.
Clinical Experience
It is our belief that you cannot graduate skilled, compassionate people without providing them with hands-on, patient-care experience. In most of our programs, students earn considerably more clinical experience than required by the various accrediting organizations.
Interprofessional Curriculum
Health care today depends on collaboration. Our interprofessional education model prepares students to work as members of health care teams. Nursing students may partner with social work students in a simulation, pharmacy students may collaborate with health informatics peers, and athletic training and respiratory care students often work side by side, learning with, from, and about one another.
Christian Context
As part of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø, we exist to help further the University's mission. Everything we do is grounded in the Christian faith and community service. As a Christian university, it is our mission to foster each student's academic, professional and ethical abilities, while encouraging social and civic responsibilities.
Preparing Graduates for a Lifetime of Service
The College of Health Sciences at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø prepares graduates in an interprofessional, Christ-centered learning environment to promote and improve the health and well-being of individuals and communities.
Our faith calls us to a greater purpose, as educators, professionals, and caregivers. It’s central to who we are and what makes Samford’s College of Health Sciences distinct.
