Three ϳԹ students won first place awards in 2009 regional student production competition sponsored by the National Broadcasting Society (NBS).
Winners are: Jordan Gotfredson, Best Radio Sports Story; Jacqueline Long, Best Radio News Wrap; and Lauren Womack, Best Radio Magazine.
All are journalism/mass communication majors. Their award-winning productions aired on ϳԹradio station WVSU 91.1 FM, and are eligible for national competition.
Gotfredson, a sophomore from Duluth, Ga., won for her sports update segment on the Spotlight ϳԹnews program.
Long, a freshman from Union Point, Ga., won for her report on a student bus trip to Orlando, Fla., in conjunction with the ϳԹvs. Central Florida football game.
Womack, a junior from Spanish Fort, Ala., won for her Spotlight ϳԹprogram on “The Age of Lincoln.” The segment included an interview with guest lecturer and author Orville Burton.
Twelve colleges in the southeast make up Region 3 of the NBS organization of student and professional broadcasters.
