Are you fascinated by the oceans, marine life, and the complex interactions between aquatic ecosystems and human activity? Do you want to gain hands-on experience in marine environments through both fieldwork and research?
The program combines coursework in biology and marine science with an immersive experience at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab (DISL), providing a unique opportunity to learn from experts and conduct field-based research in a dynamic coastal environment.
Students benefit from small class sizes and personalized mentorship—both at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøand at DISL.
All students complete at least one semester or two five-week summer terms at DISL, gaining hands-on experience in marine biology, oceanography, and coastal ecology.
The Marine Science major offers an integrated curriculum that combines core biological sciences with specialized coursework and field experiences in marine environments.
“Being a Marine Science major at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍøhas been some of the best learning experiences of my life. The Dauphin Island Sea Lab provides unparalleled learning opportunities that are hands-on and deeply impactful.”—Frank D’Alonzo ’17
